Frequently asked questions about Administrative Services for Businesses in Portugal

What administrative services does MCS offer to companies?

MCS handles the red tape and paperwork on behalf of its clients. Services include drafting and handling correspondence, drafting minutes of the corporate bodies and keeping the corporate books, depository services for corporate documents, fiscal representation of non-resident entities, providing registered office, assistance with recruitment and hiring, administrative and cash management, human resources, tax reimbursement requests and support with all company compliance matters.

Can MCS open a bank account for my company?

No. MCS cannot open a bank account on your company’s behalf. Opening a corporate bank account is a banking operation that requires the company’s directors or authorised representatives to deal directly with the bank and complete its compliance and due diligence procedures.

MCS may assist with the incorporation process and provide the relevant corporate documentation, but the bank-account application and relationship with the bank cannot be delegated to MCS.

Can MCS act as fiscal representative for a non-resident entity?

No. MCS cannot act as fiscal representative for a non-resident entity. Fiscal representation, particularly for VAT purposes, may involve responsibility for the payment of tax and related compliance obligations. This falls outside MCS’s risk policy and cannot be delegated to us.

Can MCS provide a registered office for my company?

Yes. MCS can lease office space as required for a company’s registered office. It also provides depository services for documents and corporate files for the period legally required, as part of its administrative support.
